Three Killed in Maryland Crash
Minnesota Vikings Rookie Cornerback Among Victims
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (AP) - Minnesota Vikings rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson and two former college football players were killed in a car crash in Maryland early Saturday morning, police said.
Jackson, 24, was a fourth-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft and was expected to compete for a starting role with the Vikings this season. The other victims were identified as 22-year-old Artez Smith and 23-year-old Terrance Smith, both of whom played college football at the University of Central Florida.
The crash occurred just before 3:15 a.m. in Prince George's County, Maryland, when a Chevrolet Camaro driven by Jackson collided with a Dodge Charger and a Toyota Camry, according to state police.
Jackson and Smith were pronounced dead at the scene, while Terrance Smith was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but police believe speed may have been a factor.
