Amanda Knox Loses Appeal in Italian Slander Case

16 Years After Murder of Flatmate

American Author Activist and Journalist

Amanda Marie Knox, the American author, activist, and journalist who spent almost four years incarcerated in Italy after her wrongful conviction for the murder of her flatmate, has lost her bid to overturn a slander conviction in Italy.

Knox, who was twice convicted and acquitted in the 2007 murder of her British roommate, Meredith Kercher, in Perugia, was back in court on Tuesday to face a charge of slander for a 2019 interview in which she accused the Italian police of "manipulating" evidence against her.

Knox, who has maintained her innocence throughout the ordeal, has expressed disappointment with the verdict but says she will not give up her fight to clear her name.
