Mavs Acquire Center Daniel Gafford in Trade with Wizards

Bolstering Interior Defense

Mavs Strengthen Frontcourt

The Dallas Mavericks have made a significant move to shore up their interior defense by acquiring center Daniel Gafford from the Washington Wizards. The trade, which was completed just hours before the NBA trade deadline, sends Gafford to Dallas in exchange for a future second-round pick.

Gafford is a 6-foot-11, 240-pound big man who brings a much-needed presence to the Mavericks' frontcourt. He is a strong rebounder and an excellent rim protector, ranking among the league leaders in blocks per game. His arrival is expected to bolster Dallas' defense, which has struggled at times this season.

The acquisition of Gafford comes as the Mavericks look to make a playoff push in the Western Conference. They currently sit in fifth place, just 2.5 games behind the third-seeded Denver Nuggets. With Gafford in the lineup, Dallas will have a more formidable defense to complement its high-scoring offense.
